This is a recap of what I went over in your Phoenix classes when I visited on Jan 25th and 26th.

These are all to assist you in making choices about your next steps after high school. 

ATTENDING SIERRA COLLEGE IN  SUMMER OR FALL?

  • If you plan to attend Sierra College in the summer or fall term after high school graduation you must REAPPLY to Sierra College. Apply Here 
  • You will be applying as a first time college student with a high school diploma

DEGREE WORKS TOOL

  • Degree Works is located in your My Sierra account
  • It can be used as a planning tool to check Associate’s degree progress
  • It can be used as a planning tool to see how much GE you may have left at a CSU or UC

ASSIST WEBSITE: Assist 

  • This is an online transfer planner tool for CSU’s and UC’s
  • It can help you see what lower division courses you may need when you start at a CSU or UC

EARNING AN ASSOCIATE’S DEGREE AT SIERRA COLLEGE? 

  • It is time to petition for your degree in My Sierra (deadline March 1)
  • First, verify you’ve met your requirements by using the Degree Works tool
  • To petition for your degree:
    • Login to My Sierra
    • Select Counseling, Academic Planning and Degree Progress
    • Select Request Degree/Certificate
    • Fill out the request and submit
    • To verify it’s been received, check your Degree Status in Degree Works on your worksheet (upper right corner)

Add/Drop Deadline For College Classes

SIERRA COLLEGE ADD DROP DEADLINE

FEB 7th FOR FULL SEMESTER 16 WEEK COURSES

The last day to add or drop any full semester 16 week courses for this semester is Sunday, February 7th. 

To add a class:

  • Login to My Sierra
  • Select Registration and Classes
  • Select Add/Drop or Withdraw Classes
  • Enter the CRN for the class and submit
  • When prompted enter the Add Code provided by the instructor and validate
  • Submit changes and go to View and Print Schedule to confirm your enrollment

To drop a class:

  • Email Mrs. Wilhite, Mr. Levinson, Jennifer and a parent/guardian
  • In the email state what class you want to drop and why
  • Each of us will respond with our approval
  • Mrs. Wilhite will send you the link to the form to fill out
  • Drop the course in My Sierra
  • Login to My Sierra
  • Select Registration and Classes
  • Select Add/Drop or Withdraw Classes
  • Next to the course name you want to drop select the Drop option from the drop down box
  • Submit changes
  • Go to View and Print Schedule to confirm your drop

COLLEGE CLASSES START MONDAY!!!

SPRING 2021 Session Begins JANUARY 25th  for Sierra College classes!

Get ready for your Sierra College course(s):

  1. Log in to your My Sierra and look up your class schedule to verify your enrollment
  2. Check your email for a welcome letter from your instructor (some classes)
  3. Go to the Canvas link (located within My Sierra or from the homepage of www.sierracollege.edu)
  4. Canvas is where your class will “live”
  5. If your course is already open, review the site and your course syllabus
  6. On the first day of classes (January 25) make sure you log in to your Canvas and review the welcome letter, syllabus and learn to navigate the class by clicking on all of the links to see where the instructor has posted information
  7. Notice the calendar feature. If your instructor uses the calendar this is a nice way to keep track of due dates

If you are still on a waitlist on the first day of classes:

  1. Email the professor of the course to request an add code
  2. Tell them your name and which course you want to add including the CRN (course reference number)
  3. The instructor may give you an add code or they may say to check back in a couple of days.
  4. Once you receive an add code you must go into your My Sierra to officially register for the course.  Once you click on the course you will be prompted to enter the CRN to register.

There are a number of class sections with seats reserved for Ghidotti students. 

If you have the following class/classes in your ILP please consider signing up with the restricted CRN.

Please email me at [email protected] to be cleared for a restricted class. 

Please email me with the following information:

your name, Sierra College ID number, and the name and CRN of the class you want to be cleared for.

Sierra College Registration

SIERRA COLLEGE SPRING 2021 REGISTRATION

  • Registration for spring classes is November 13-15
  • Classes begin January 25th
  • To prepare for registration: 
    • Login to My Sierra
    • Select Registration and Classes
    • Complete the Pre Registration  Questionnaire
    • You will receive your registration date and time at the end of the questionnaire. This is your first opportunity to register for spring classes.

FRESHMAN PLANNING FOR SPRING:

  • Complete the Pre Registration Questionnaire in My Sierra (see above for directions)
  • Note your registration date and time!
  • You must sign up for one college course each semester.
  • Courses to consider:
    • If you are currently taking Kin 6, consider signing up for HED 2. There is a restricted section for Ghidotti students. Use Course Reference Number (CRN) 48315 to register.
    • If you are currently taking HED 2, consider signing up for Kin 7. There is a restricted section for Ghidotti students. Use Course Reference Number (CRN) 47966
    • If you have taken Kin 6 AND HED 2, Kin 7 is still a good choice since you need 20 credits of PE to graduate.
    • Other options:
      • Skill Development 10: How to be a successful online student
      • An art class:  See categories in the class schedule under Art, ARHI, AAD, MUS, Photo, Thea.  Some popular options are Art 4A, Art 18A, ARHI 101, AAD 70, Music 2 or 10, Photo 60A, Thea 10A

SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS AND SENIORS: 

  • Complete the Pre Registration Questionnaire in My Sierra
  • Review your ILP which should be in your Google Docs since it was shared with you
  • If you can’t find it please email me at [email protected] and I can reshare it with you

Sierra College Updates

  • Please note: most courses will be taught completely online for the spring semester with a few exceptions that will have an on-ground component. Art 18A/18B Ceramics will have an on-ground meeting time as will HSCI 7, Mech 10 and Mech 44.
  • Pay close attention to optional online Zoom meetings sessions. These will be posted directly under the course name and CRN. While they are optional, they are highly recommended.
  • Also note: some courses in the sciences have a note that test proctoring software is required which needs a camera and microphone. If you do not have the proper equipment please let me or Mr. Levinson know and we will help you.
  • Registration dates and times for spring registration will be posted in your My Sierra on October 16th. Login to your My Sierra and complete the Pre-Registration Questionnaire to get your date and time. You can get to this by clicking on the Registration and Classes link then Complete The Pre-Registration Questionnaire.
  • Registration for Ghidotti students is November 13-15. You will be given a specific date and time that is your first opportunity to access your registration. I recommend you register for classes at this first opportunity to ensure you get the classes you want.
