Ashland payments due

If you haven’t already turned in your remaining payment for Ashland, please get it to Mr. Levinson by the end of this week — August 23rd. Most folks owe $200. Please make check out to “Ghidotti PTC.” You can access the information packet here.

If you’re not sure if you still owe money, please email Mr. Levinson. Thanks!

Reminder: College Classes

This is a friendly reminder that all Ghidotti students must be enrolled in at least one Sierra College class. Please see Ms. Wilhite or Ms. Hurst-Crabb if you don’t have a college class.

Also, if you are thinking about dropping a college class, you must first get approval from Ms. Wilhite and Mr. Levinson. There’s a form in the office.

Leadership Opportunities with ASB

Students, do you want to have a greater impact on Ghidotti? Think about becoming part of the ASB.

The following schoolwide positions are available: President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer.

You can also run for Class President or Phoenix Representative.

There’s a Mandatory information meeting August 21st at 7:15am in the Ghidotti office for anybody who is interested. I encourage you to step up and be a leader.

New Tardy Policy

Last year we held a “Tardy Symposium” in the hopes of revising our tardy policy. This year, we’re piloting a new program which focuses more on impact, reflection, and collaboration.

As always, students get three tardies per semester. After that, students are assigned a Saturday School. Each additional tardy earns another Saturday School.

This year, students may opt to meet with the Peer Attendance Review Committee (PARC) instead of attending Saturday School. PARC consists of student peers, teachers, and office staff. Before attending PARC, students must fill out a reflection form that asks them to identify reasons for the tardies, their feelings on the tardies, the impact it has had on them and others, and the needs that aren’t being addressed.

We’re still in the early stages but will share more info as we develop the program. I’m really excited to have an alternative to Saturday School — please bear with us as we begin implementing.

If you’re interested in volunteering to be on the Peer Attendance Review Committee, please click here.

Want to form a club?

We’ll be doing club days twice a month in homeroom this year. Current clubs that we’d like to continue include: Gym, Bored Games, Gay-Straight Alliance, Bring Change 2 Mind, and Ghidotti United.

We still have room for three to four more clubs. If you’re interested in founding and running a club at Ghidotti, please submit the following form to Mr. Levinson by Friday, August 23, at noon.

Here’s the form. Please download and print it out.

New Quiet Area

You might have noticed the new room next to the Cafe (it used to be the bookstore). Sierra College has created a space more beautiful than any Starbucks. I’m hoping they can remodel my house next!

Ghidotti students are welcome to use the room but make sure that it’s being used as intended: as a quieter area to eat and study. If you would like to play games or have heated conversations, stick to the main cafe. Thanks!
