We are encouraging students who plan to sign up for Arts and Crafts on 4/14 to bring their own hooks and yarn. We will be learning crochet with a focus on community service. Some of the organizations we’re currently working with have certain requirements.

Handmade Especially for You, an organization who provides scarves for women of domestic violence, requires:

  • Sizes K, N, P for hooks or sizes 15 or 17 for needles
  • Soft yarn with happy colors
  • A personal decoration, such as a ribbon or fun fur, to personalize each scarf

Warm Up America, a general crochet organization that donates to a bunch of charities, requires:

  • Medium weight, machine washable, dryable acrylic yarn

Operation Gratitude, an organization that donates scarves and hats to military, requires:

  • Size 4 Medium worsted weight yarn (Don’t use bulky yarn, will not be shipped out to military if it can’t fit in a 3¼” x 3¼” x 7¼” box)
  • Muted colors such as deep shades of blue, greens, reds, grays, browns, tans, and black (NO SOLID WHITE)
  • Bigger hooks are recommended, but not needed

Bring:

  • Yarn (not solid white)
  • Hook (preferably sizes K, N, or P, but not required)
  • Donations of these things will be appreciated. Contact AJ at [email protected] for more information regarding donations.

Juniors begin CAASPP testing this Friday

Juniors begin CAASPP testing this Friday in Phoenix class. Please bring your fully charged student Chromebook (if you have one), come well-rested, and be ready to do your best. There’s no other preparation needed.

Most of the testing will take place in Phoenix class over the next few weeks.

There will be a longer session this Friday, April 14, for the Math Performance Task and on April 21st, for the English Performance Task.  Here is the link to the special schedule for those two Fridays.

School Open at 11

All high school and NCC classes are scheduled to run as usual starting at 11:00. There is no special High School schedule. We will only have 3rd, 4th and 5th periods today. Please plan on attending your college classes as usually scheduled. If you are unable to attend your classes please call the office to have your absence excused, and communicate with your college professors. Thank you and drive safe.

Late Start Today

Today we have a tentative late start scheduled for 11:00.  We will reevaluate weather, driving, and campus conditions at 9 am.  Check your remind 101, the school website, and your emails around 9 for updated info. But as of now, plan to attend your 11:00 classes.  All high school and college classes located on the NCC campus and scheduled before 11 am have been canceled.  If you have morning online classes assume those classes are in session
